Jeep Life – Power Wheels mods – intro

By In Mods, Power Wheels

My niece has had a little pink power wheels for a year or so now. I suggested some mods to my brother in law when they picked it up, but they ended up throwing a fresh battery in and letting her rally around the river property (again, more on that later). She’s been very content with it, but only because she doesn’t know she could be going must faster and, from what I understand, longer durations. But I’m just Uncle and didn’t think I needed to acquire one, just for her. As I’ve invited friends over, friends with kids, I’ve realized that maybe having a second one on hand might be kinda worth it.

So after some quick searching, I found a guy on Craigslist selling the same pink Jeep Power Wheels my niece had, for $20. It needed a battery and had a few chew marks from a bored dog in their backyard. Yep, I’ll take that, when can I meet ya? Picked it up about an hour later and brought it home. The obvious first mod will be an 18V upgrade, so I chopped off the OEM battery connection and jammed the wires into a Milwaukee M18 battery and we were in business. White is positive and black is negative. Both the Milwaukee battery and the original battery hookup show which connection is which, but in case yours is already cut, there ya go.

With it at least working, parts are being ordered and plans made to turn this thing into a little speed demon. But I’d also like to add some head lights or fog lights at the very least. Sounds like the motor may need to be upgraded eventually as well, so that’s an option. Paint may happen if I can get to it. Enjoy a few pictures of the jeep before I dig in. I’ll post more about the battery upgrades once the adapter arrives.
